The male choir HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen with its 90 singers has presented high-quality choir music for nearly 100 years until today.
The choir’s extensive repertoire covers all periods of vocal music and the 20th century, among them choral works composed by R. R. Klein, A. Koerppen, F. Farcas and many others more.
Some of the works have been specially composed for HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen.
At the same time the choir dedicates itself to oratorioes usually performed together with the female choir “Dzintars“ Riga (Latvia).
At the opening concert of the HARMONIE FESTIVAL ’99 Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s 2nd symphony “Lobgesang“ was performed by the HARMONIE FESTIVAL-Chorus including HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen, “Dzintars“ Riga, a female project choir and the Students Symphony Orchestra from Marburg.
A milestone in the choir’s recent history is the ‘Choir Project 2000‘. Cherubini’s “Requiem“ and Wagner’s “Das Liebesmahl der Apostel” (“The Feast of Pentecost“) was performed with renowned male choirs from Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia and the orchestra Rheinische Philharmonie at Alte Oper Frankfurt, Philharmonie Cologne, Konstantin-Basilika Trier and Hoher Dom Speyer.
The choir HARMONIE has acquired a highly musical reputation throughout numerous concert tours and participations in international festivals such as in the Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Macedonia , Russia and the USA.
In international choir competitions HARMONIE was awarded several prizes. The choir won first prize in the male choir category at the International “Eisteddford“ Llangollen (Wales)in 1995 and second prize in 2003.
In Germany, HARMONIE won several times prizes in the Hesse and German Choir Competitions. Last, HARMONIE won first prize in the male choir category at the German Choir Competition in Regensburg in 1998.
Today, HARMONIE Lindenholzhausen is conducted by Jan Schumacher and the assisstant conductor Andreas Jung.
